Commissions & Costs


If you're around the Salt Lake area, I love to take commissions for cakes privately. I do so on a case-by-case basis as I am not a professional (I do this for fun!), I know what I can and can't do, and I work from home according to my and my husband's schedules.

What will one of these delicious creations cost?
That depends on what you want. I've done my best to break down the cost of materials and work as follows... 
Cake + Frosting + Fillings + Extras + Time = Total Cost.

Cakes 
1 batch cupcakes (24) - $10
1 tier - $10
2-tier - $20
3-tier - $35
+$5 for a specialty flavor
*Basic Flavors: chocolate, vanilla, white (can be dyed any color at all), and red velvet.
Specialty Flavors I've done successfully include lemon, strawberry, blueberry, lemon-blueberry, pumpkin spice, gingerbread, and apple cinnamon. If you would like to suggest something new, I'd love to experiment!
**Basic Flavors can also be combined by marbling, checker-boarding, or polka-dotting for an extra $5. 
***These prices are based off the ingredients required for a single13x9 in. rectangle, a single 8-9 in. round/square (or similar), or a 6 in. top tier in a multitier cake. Ask about alternative sizes, and we'll figure it out.

Frostings
All flavors - $10 per batch/tier
*Favorite tried-and-true flavors include MomMom's Icing (the sugary sweet Dream Whip frosting I grew up with), White Chocolate (tastes like Oreo filling!), Buttercream, Strawberry Buttercream, Blueberry Buttercream, Mixed Berry Buttercream, Cream Cheese, Lemon Cream Cheese, Cinnamon Cream Cheese, Caramel Cream Cheese, and Chocolate. Feel free to ask if you've got something new in mind to try.

Cupcake Fillings (price is per batch)
Frosting - $3
Oreos - $3
Lemon Curd - $3
Berry Curd (Strawberry, Blueberry, or Mixed) - $5

Extras
Cheesecake Layers - $10 per layer
Fondant - $15
*The starting price for working with fondant is $15; the amount of time spent working with fondant to make flowers or other decorations is factored in below.

Time
$6 per hour 
*Includes time spent mixing, baking, assembling, decorating, etc., and will be rounded to the nearest half hour.
**Everything else can be added up in advance, but the time a commission will take can only be very roughly guess-timated before the work is actually done, thus the price of time can only be factored in after a commission is completed. Cakes tend to take longer than cupcakes. A very simple cake will probably take 4 hours or more, and one simple batch of cupcakes will probably take about 2 hours (but those are very rough guess-timations, and not promises since each cake is different).


As I've stated many times already, there are a lot of flavors/ideas I've tried, but there are plenty more that I haven't. If you have an idea for a cake, frosting, filling, or extra you don't see mentioned here, mention it, and I'll do my best to come up with something new and awesome! If I really don't think it's feasible, I'll let you know. I'll do my best to be as flexible as you are!
